HOPES Controller

STAT-EI’s HOPES controller (US10326280) designed and developed by Prof. Arif Sarwat allows microgrids from different locations to connect through transmission lines to the utility grid. Using the controller the
microgrids can communicate and form a virtual power plant to distribute power where it is needed. The HOPES controller software component includes predictive and prescriptive computation models to address and mitigate the concerns facing the grid’s high-penetration RES scenarios. Also, the controller allows consumers to integrate novel computational tools for state-of-the-art RES generation forecasting and wide-area aggregation, to optimize dynamic RES hosting capacity, intelligent
device synchronization, and on-demand dispatch ability.
